#OOTD

(Leather jacket-New Look; White tee-Mango; Trousers-Zara; Loafers-Zara; Sunglasses-D&G)

The weather is finally on the up so any chance I get the sunnies come out. Just a casual outfit for college today, making the most of not having to wear boots and a thick coat!

Red Nails

Just a quick beauty post to show you my freshly self-manicured nails. Quite proud they did smudge or get everywhere as I usually don't have the patience and paint the other hand when the first one is still wet. But I really love this colour (Rimmel Lasting Finish in Double Decker Red) as it is bold, but understated and really brightens up any outfit.

Valentino SS13

After going to see the Valentino exhibition a few weeks ago, and seeing the fine detail in the designs first hand, there is no surprise why I am drawn to the SS13 collection. For me, the designs encapsulate what a Valentino woman is - elegant, innovative and unique. I love the mix of styles that have been created; some simple and others wildly intricate creating a great juxtaposition between the two on the catwalk. The thing that first caught my attention was the stunning materials used, the detail in the lace and even the structure of the plainer fabrics. I think its the fact that they have been able to create so many dresses that all work together, but at the same time are completely different, that make the collection so brilliant.

Vogue to release Miss Vogue in the UK

British Vogue have announced the release of Miss Vogue, a magazine targeted at a younger audience but with all the same qualities and characteristics of its older counter part, which will be available on May 6th alongside Vogue's June issue.

One of the main differences between the two is that Miss Vogue will be more aware of budget, which I think is a really important feature. A magazine, in some ways, should be a like a shopping directory - you see something you like, you find out where its from and you go and buy it. When looking through higher-end magazines I often spot items and fall in love with them, instantly to be disheartened but their price tag. So I think the fact that they are showing understanding of this really makes young adults, such as myself, feel as though they are listening.

I really do think the magazine will be a success as there is a real gap in the market for teen magazines in the UK; and as Vogue has such a huge reputation, they won't let us down with this!

Get the look: Winter

(For item information, check out my Polyvore

Snow has arrived - good for some, bad for others; I myself am not a huge lover of it. The only good this about this cold weather is the fact that we get to layer up and keep warm, very common among us Brit's seeing as we have 'winter' about 75% of the year.
I wanted to give you guys some outfit ideas on how I would wrap up and stay stylish at the same time, for both day and night. I would say keep main items such as tops and jeans/trousers pretty simple, but use accessories to style it up. Fur is always a great 'sophistication enhancer' and can add class to any outfit, just don't over load - one item is enough! In terms of shoes, for the day stick to boots or trainers; and for evening, anything goes..

Saint Laurent

How gorgeous is this bag from Saint Laurent?! Its very similar to a Celine one I've been eyeing up, but a little more structured. Plus Elin Kling wants it - so I want it!

Wabi Sabi Interiors

My current project I am doing at college is based on how to style an image, and so we have been looking at interior styling - which is where I came across Wabi Sabi. As you know, I am a keen Tumblr fan and often find myself re-blogging some interior shots very similar to these, which is why I think I am so fond of them. I love the rustic style, using the odd pop of colour by generally keeping to whites and greys. I can't wait until I get my own apartment/house and get to decorate it; I'm sure these image will have a huge influence on how it turns out!

Blog Re-vamp

After my lesson today (of which we were shown an ex-students blog) it dawned on me that I am trying to make this blog very fashion orientated, and less about me and what I like. So instead I am going to focus on the things that I am currently inspired by, my work, but also continue with the fashion related stuff.

I have always loved #OOTD posts and whenever I'm on other peoples blogs I that's what draws me in; but its safe to say I'm not the best as those as I just don't have the right setting to take them - but when I can, I will.

So to start off my - I'm going to call it - 'wall of inspiration' I thought I'd just share a couple of images from my Tumblr (stylemeunique.tumblr.com) as I find that it the place that influences me the most.

Golden Globe Fashions

There were some really gorgeous fashions at the Golden Globes this year from the likes of Lea Michelle in Elie Saab, to Miranda Kerr in Zuhair Murad. The main trends that I noticed were the fishtail, plenty of embellishments and thigh-high splits (a la Rosie), which were all worn very elegantly and not too over-the-top. My personal favorite look is from Ms Kerr; although only she could pull of the split and the deep V with her amazing VS figure!

Quote

Something my art teacher said the other day really stuck in my mind; I think its relevant  And if anyone else is studying art/design/fashion it is a bloody good piece of advice.

'You are decorating the world, so make it look good.'

Zara Zara Zara

Its safe to say I am definitely a 'shoes and handbag' kinda girl, and Zara have some amazing items for each category! Bag wise, I like them large, but still sophisticated, and Zara tick that box. For shoes, I buy them so that they fit into what I categorize as, the 3 general occasions: casual, work and evening, and again they have got just the right styles for the job. Classy and comfy day wear, slightly heeled boots and some gorgeous heels to glam up any look.

Gemma Ward is returning to modelling!

(Clip from vogue.com)

I am a huge Gemma Ward fan and think that she is a fantastic model, so am glad to see that shes getting back to it after her short 'retirement'. Looking back over her work, I think my favourite shoot she has done has to be by Patrick Demarchelier in Vogue India, 2007 titled 'Bollywood Dreams'. The setting was just so beautiful, and I think the lighting played a huge role in order to capture the dreamy atmosphere.

Zara Coat Lovin'

I am, and have been, in love with this Zara coat for months now and I just want to get my hands on it! They also do a similar one in maroon which is also gorgeous, and if it was cheaper it would be in my wardrobe by now. I just hope the price comes down even more than it already has!

Tim Walker and Valentino Exhibtion's at Somerset House

I had such an amazing day today in London visiting Somerset House and mooching around London. Both the Tim Walker 'Storyteller' and the Valentino exhibitions were great, and seeing two in one day was a bonus! I will definitely try to go up much more in the New Year as I love London so much, and hopefully be leaving up/nearer there in the future!
